Most may know Brendan as a folk singer/songwriter rooted in the Americana tradition, but his musical path reaches well beyond any single genre. A winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and a 2X Telluride Arts grantee, Brendan’s work blends poetic lyricism, nimble flatpicking, and a deep improvisational sensibility shaped by roots music and global traditions. His debut album, Back To Bodhi, directly alluded to the Bodhi tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment—an early signal that his artistry would live at the crossroads of contemplation and craft.
Brendan toured India with The Bluegrass Journeymen, immersing himself in the pulse of raga and rhythm; spent formative seasons in Africa listening to the earth-driven language of drum and community; performed at Bhakti Fest; and collaborated with Kirtan artists in spaces where devotion and improvisation meet. These experiences didn’t just expand his passport — they reshaped his ear, deepened his sense of groove, and affirmed music as a shared spiritual practice rather than a performance alone. Whether on festival stages or in intimate gatherings, his music seeks connection—between people, traditions, and the natural world. He is honored to be part of the Telluride Yoga Festival and excited to collaborate and explore the “East meets West” musical dialogue together.
