Walking the Story: A Historical Tour of Telluride with Ashley Boling
Filling
Limited Capacity filling up
Every town has a heartbeat. Telluride's just happens to be wilder, stranger, and more beautiful than most. Join Ashley Boling for a guided walk through the storied streets of one of Colorado's most legendary mountain towns — a place that has reinvented itself again and again through hardship, creativity, and the fierce devotion of the people who called it home. From the early presence of the Ute people to its mining-boom roots, from the world's first alternating current at the Ames hydro-electric power plant to Butch Cassidy's very first bank robbery, from its counterculture renaissance to the vibrant festival culture that pulses through it today — Telluride's history is a living, breathing testament to what becomes possible when a community chooses to show up for itself and for one another.

Along the way, we'll step inside two places where that community spirit is still very much alive: the magnificent Sheridan Opera House and the legendary New Sheridan Hotel and Saloon. Part history lesson, part love letter to place, this walk is a beautiful reminder that the town holding us this weekend has its own extraordinary story of thriving together — and that we are, for these few days, part of it.

Route: Walking tour through historic downtown Telluride
Difficulty: Easy
Distance: Approximately 1–1.5 miles
Elevation Gain: Minimal
Time: Approximately 1.5 hours — note that this tour starts and ends in Telluride, requiring a 15-minute gondola ride back to Mountain Village.
